From Empty Room to Thriving Community Grocery: The Keller Market House Expansion

The Keller Market House has come a long way since its establishment eight years ago. Initially, it was just an empty room and an idea, but today it’s a thriving community grocery store that offers locally produced goods from Ohio. Recently, the market completed an expansion project funded by a $195,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture.

The renovation focused on the back part of the building, which was previously unusable. The redesign created a dedicated delivery entrance that opens into a vendor workspace, freeing up more retail area in the front of the building. Additionally, three new refrigerators and three new freezers were added to improve storage capacity for perishable goods.

David Keller Miller, a descendant of the family that started the original Keller Market on the same spot, was present at the expansion celebration. He expressed his amazement at how far the market had come since its inception and thanked everyone involved for their hard work and dedication to making this project happen.

The Keller Market House is open year-round, six days a week, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday. It’s more than just a grocery store; it’s a vital part of Lancaster’s local community where people can access fresh produce and other locally sourced products all year round.

Overall, this expansion has allowed the Keller Market House to offer even more space for vendors to sell their products while also improving customer experience with better storage capacity for perishable goods like fruits and vegetables.

In conclusion, The Keller Market House has been able to achieve great success over eight years with an empty room and an idea by providing fresh produce and other locally sourced products all year round through hard work and dedication from everyone involved in its operations.
