Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard sidelined indefinitely due to knee inflammation, putting playoff hopes in jeopardy

Kawhi Leonard sidelined for Game 4 against Mavericks due to knee inflammation, potential for extended absence

Kawhi Leonard was forced to sit out Game 4 of the Los Angeles Clippers’ first-round playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks due to right knee inflammation. The decision was made by the organization, with Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank announcing that Leonard’s surgically repaired knee was causing him pain and discomfort. Despite missing the last eight games of the regular season and Game 1 of the series before returning for Games 2 and 3, this latest setback has sidelined him once again.

Leonard’s absence has been a concern for the Clippers, as he has been one of their top performers throughout the season. However, Frank expressed uncertainty about when Leonard would be able to return, emphasizing the importance of his full range of movement before considering his comeback. “It’s tricky,” Frank said. “We need to make sure he can move freely without restrictions before we consider bringing him back.”

Despite Leonard’s absence, the Mavericks managed to secure a 2-1 lead in the series, having won both games that Leonard played in. This has put pressure on the Clippers to win Game 5 in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. Frank described the situation as “tight” and acknowledged that there are still many challenges ahead for both teams.

The Clippers continue to focus on trying to overcome these challenges and make it through to Round 2 of the playoffs. They will need all hands on deck if they are going to do so, but they remain optimistic that with hard work and determination, they can get past this hurdle and achieve their goals for this season.
