Who will make the cut for India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad: Cricketing legends share their opinions

BCCI delays announcement of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, creating anticipation among fans

The India T20 World Cup 2024 squad is set to be announced on May 1, with speculation about who will make the final cut for the prestigious tournament starting on June 2. With only a few days left until the deadline, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) must decide on the final 15 members of the team.

Former cricketers have been sharing their opinions on who should be included in the squad. Irfan Pathan believes that India should have a strong bowling lineup with at least five quality bowlers. He suggests having two wrist spinners, Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav, in the team. However, he does not think Yuzvendra Chahal should be selected based solely on his IPL performance, emphasizing the importance of fielding skills. Pathan believes that Jasprit Bumrah is a must-have in the team.

According to sources from the Press Trust of India (PTI), most of the squad has already been decided, with only a few positions left to be finalized. There may not be any major surprises in the selection, but there are discussions about Hardik Pandya’s fitness and whether he can bowl in addition to his batting duties. There have also been talks about including Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul in the squad as wicketkeepers alongside Shivam Dube.

The final team selection is expected to take place informally between chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma before an official announcement is made on May 1, just before India’s T20 World Cup campaign begins on June 2nd as per ICC’s deadline for squad declarations.
