From Jets to Eagles: Meet Mekhi Becton, the Swing Tackle Sensation with a Talent for Overcoming Adversity

Mekhi Becton set to join Eagles

The Eagles have made some exciting changes to their offensive line this weekend with the draft of two new linemen and the signing of former Jets tackle Mekhi Becton. Becton, a 2020 first-round pick, is expected to take on a swing tackle role with the NFC East club once he passes his physical and signs his contract worth up to $5.5 million.

Becton had an impressive rookie season with the Jets but suffered from knee injuries that limited him to only one game over the next two seasons. Despite this, he was still highly regarded by his teammates and coaches for his work ethic and talent. Unfortunately, the Jets opted not to pick up his 2025 option and did not make a move to re-sign him after he started 16 games in the 2023 season.

Now, Becton will have a fresh start with the Eagles and an opportunity to showcase his abilities on a new team. With Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata already on hand at tackle, Becton is likely to take on a swing tackle role. However, he has plenty of potential as a talented young player who has yet to fully realize it due to injury setbacks in the past. The Eagles are excited about adding him to their roster and look forward to seeing what he can do for their offense moving forward.
